The ECC’s Sustainability Policy

Identifying the activities and services that have the potential to cause environmental and social impacts, and/or to cause significant risks with regard to visitors’, employees’ and suppliers’ safety and health is part of our policy. This includes eliminating (when feasible) or mitigating the impact/risk these represent by treatment or other means.

The Estoril Congress Center was awarded “Gold Certification” by the certifier EarthCheck in 2015.

This programme recognises the ECC’s commitment to attaining high standards of sustainability and to improving them continuously.

Given its modern structure, resources and procedures, the ECC has attained best practice results in the following: energy, water, waste, community engagement, paper, choice of cleaning products and pesticides.

The ECC also has an ongoing recycling program –3R6® certification – created by Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV,) the body responsible for managing waste from packaging in Portugal.
3R6® aims to certify events, shows or retail outlets with a «green point guarantee » where the waste from packaging in those venues is correctly sent for recycling. Once duly separated on site, this waste is then collected and sent by SPV to the bodies that ensure their proper recycling.

The ECC has undertaken the commitment to account for and, whenever possible, offset its carbon emissions and has been certified by e)mission since 2011, as part of its sustainability policy.

The ECC building has had Energy and Indoor Air Quality Certification by ADENE since 2011.

The ECC has an ongoing policy of increasing its environmental credentials along the supplier chain, in order to offer “greener” solutions and increase the success of its events.

Our sales policy is based on a strong commitment to sustainable development and the effective engagement of all stakeholders. We endeavour to be innovative and seek to leverage the international projection of the business tourism offering in the whole region as a “green destination”.
